Richards Named to GSC All-Academic Team

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball guard Madeline Richards (Floyds Knobs, IN) has been named to the Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team by sports information directors and faculty athletic representative throughout the GSC Eastern Division.

A 5’7” junior, Richards led the Lady Railsplitters this season in scoring (12.8 ppg.), in free throw percentage (82.1%) and in three point shooting percentage (41.5%).  In addition the three-year starter for Lincoln Memorial was sixth in the league in free throws, fourth in three point field goal percentage and sixth in three point field goals made.

Although the Lady Railsplitters had somewhat of a disappointing year this season, Richards, a former GSC Freshman of the Year and All-Conference performer will be the top returnee for the Lady Railsplitters in 2006-07 as LMU embarks on their new endeavor in the South Atlantic Conference.  Lincoln Memorial will join Carson-Newman College, Tusculum College, Mars Hill College, Catawba College, Wingate University, Newberry College and Lenoir-Rhyne College as SAC member institutions.
