HUNTSVILLE, AL – On Monday night, the University of Alabama-Huntsville Lady Chargers got one final word in before the Lincoln Memorial women depart from the Gulf South Conference.  The Lady Railsplitters were defeated 75-59 by UAH, giving the Lady Chargers the sweep both home and away this season. LMU trailed the entire game and never threatened to take the lead from a Lady Charger basketball team that will enter next month's Gulf South Conference Tournament as either the fourth or fifth seed.

The Lady Chargers pulled away early in the first half, talking a 20 point 46-26 lead into the locker room at the half and eventually coming away with the 16 point victory.

Only LMU’s Heather Benton (Wooton, KY) was able score effectively and play up to her norm against the UAH defense.  Benton scored 17 points, most of which came in the second half and pulled a game high nine rebounds to help the Lady Railsplitter cause.

Playing in their second game in two days, the LMU women clearly had no legs to go toe to toe with one of the leagues top teams.  The Lady Railsplitters were held to 38.3% from the floor, 9.1% from three point range and 60% from the free throw line while dropping to 3-10 in GSC Eastern Division play.

This Saturday night, the LMU women will bring to a close a very frustrating season when they play host to the University of West Georgia at home in the Tex Turner Arena.  In addition to being the final game of the season, Saturday will also be senior night for the Lady Railsplitters who say goodbye to four-year players Chasity Williams (Evansville, IN), Candice Rose (McKee, KY) and Katie DePersio (Knoxville, TN) who will be playing for the last time in the LMU blue and gray.
