HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball team continued to make GSC Tournament possibilities interesting by winning their second consecutive conference game on Monday evening.  (Box score

After knocking off West Alabama on Saturday evening 65-63, the Lady Railsplitters won another close battle Monday night against the Lady Falcons of the University of Montevallo by the final of 59-54.

Early three point shooting, rebounding and especially free throw shooting were the key factors in the win Monday evening.  The LMU women knocked down four three pointers in the first half, controlled the boards most of the evening and hit 73.9% of their free throw shots to come away with their second consecutive win.

Senior Chasity Williams (Evansville, IN) and junior Latoya Johnson (Miami, FL) shared top scoring honors, each scoring 14 points.  Junior Madeline Richards (Floyds Knobs, IN) also found double figures by putting in another 10 and sophomore Heather Benton (Wooton, KY) pulled eight rebounds to lead LMU on the glass.

Now it’s out on the roads over the next two weeks for the Lady Railsplitters as they will travel to West Florida and Valdosta State next weekend, and then visit North Alabama and Alabama-Huntsville the following week.  The LMU women need to win at least two of those games to keep their GSC Tournament hopes alive heading into their final home game of the regular season against West Georgia on February 25.
