HARROGATE, TN – Despite numerous runs by the Lady Railsplitters, the LMU women couldn’t overcome the bench depth or the outside shooting of the Lady Chargers of Alabama-Huntsville Monday evening in their 61-53 Gulf South Conference loss. (Box score)

After picking up their first league win of the year Saturday night against North Alabama, LMU Head Coach Roger Vannoy felt his team had a chance to win Monday night’s game with UAH, providing they could put together their best 40 minutes of the year.  As fate would have it, that wasn’t what happened.

The Lady Railsplitters were held to just 32.2% shooting from the floor Monday evening and hit only 44.4% of their shots from the free throw line.  To make matters worse, the LMU women allowed UAH to hit 9 of 19 shots from outside the three point line for 47.4% and 18 of 22 shots at the free throw line for 81.8%.

The loss puts the LMU women at 1-5 in league play as they prepare for this weekend’s road trip to West Georgia.  The Lady Braves are 5-1 in the conference with their 67-60 win over UNA on Monday night and will be looking to hang on to second place honors in the GSC East with a win over LMU.  Saturday’s game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off in Carrollton, Georgia with pre-game coverage beginning on the LMU Basketball Network at 5:15 p.m.
