LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release January 16, 2006 Lady Falcons Second Half Rally Kills Lady Railsplitter Hopes MONTEVALLO, AL – A strong second half showing by the Montevallo Lady Falcons silenced any Lady Railsplitter thoughts of capturing their first Gulf South Conference win of the year Monday evening. The Montevallo women took the momentum in the second half to come away with a convincing 63-49 win over the Lady Railsplitters in their first meeting of the year. (Box score) The LMU setback was especially painful considering the recent improvement of the Lady Railsplitters heading into Monday night’s meeting with Montevallo. Even with a loss Saturday evening at West Alabama, the LMU women seemed to be setting the stage for what many thought would be their best basketball this season. Montevallo’s Trellice Moore led all scorers with 19 points while pulling a game-high nine rebounds. Teammate Courtney Shields also chipped in 13 points as the only other Lady Falcon in double figures. For Lincoln Memorial, sophomore Heather Benton (Wooton, Kentucky) scored 13 points on 6 of 10 shooting from the floor. The LMU women will now look to Saturday night to get back on the winning track when they play host to the University of North Alabama. Tip-off between the Lady Railsplitters and the Lady Lions is set for 6:00 p.m. in LMU’s Tex Turner Arena. -LMU- For additional
