LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release December 15, 2007 Lady Saints Steal 80-69 Win Over Lincoln Memorial DAHLONEGA , GA – The North Georgia College & State University led by 11 at the break, and followed Syretha Marble's 29-point performance to beat Lincoln Memorial 80-69 here Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. North Georgia got on the board first and never looked
back as Rachael Jolley hit a jumper to give the Lady Saints a 3-0
lead less than two-minutes into the game.
Lincoln Memorial (4-4) never led in the contest, but tied the game on several occasions, including at the 16:22 mark in the first half when Kara Harris sank a three-pointer to tied the game 5-5.
The Lady Saints would extend their lead to 10 points at 21-11 on
a lay-up by Marble with 7:22 remaining in the first half, and pulled away for an
11-point lead at the intermission.
The Lady Railsplitters came out firing in the second half and managed to cut North Georgia's lead to just one at 43-42 on a lay-up by Stephanie Wagner with 12:46 remaining in the game. A pair of free throws by Lincoln Memorial's Shawna Nicols once again narrowed the lead to a point with 10:27 left, but a jumper and three-pointer from Marble pushed the advantage back up to six points at 52-46. The Lady Saints would continue to pull away over the final eight minutes and escape Memorial Hall with an 11-point victory. Marble continued to put up points for North Georgia, as she poured in 29 while Kourtney Singleton added 24. Marble and Singleton also combined for 28 rebounds as the duo sported a pair of double-doubles on the afternoon. Harris led the way for the Lady Railsplitters with 22-points and two assists. Andi Winney and Nicols chipped in nine points apiece, while Brittany Crane and Megan Davis each added eight. -LMU- For additional
