Richards Shoots Her Way Into LMU Record Book

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball guard Madeline Richards (Floyds Knobs, IN) recently became the all-time leader for the Lady Railsplitter program in 3-point field goals made with 166 when she hit her second 3-pointer in Tuesday night’s 71-59 win over Brevard College.

On Saturday afternoon, Richards joined another elite group of Lady Railsplitter basketball players when she hit a 3-pointer in Lincoln Memorial’s 54-49 win over Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia to join the 1000-point club.

Richards’ basket Saturday afternoon brings her all-time point total to 1006 career points in ninety games played, while ranking her sixteenth all-time on the LMU scoring list.  She is projected to surpass former Lady Railsplitters Nickie Snow (1984-88), Laura Winters (1988-92), Bridget Long (1990-94), Robin Cox (1992-96), Marcie Stout (1981-85) and Rachel Peach (1981-85) before season’s end.

Currently the Lady Railsplitters are 6-1 on the year and have only this Saturday’s road game with King College before departing for the Christmas break.  The LMU women will resume the 2006-07 schedule on December 29-30 when they travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina for the USC Upstate Holiday Tournament.
