North Georgia Defeats LMU 65-56

JEFFERSON CITY, TN – The second day of the Eagle Club Classic was almost a carbon copy of the first as turnovers doomed the Lady Railsplitter cause in a 65-5-56 loss to North Georgia. (Box score)

The two teams were meeting for the first time since the 1993-94 season, when the Lady Railsplitters pulled out a 71-68 victory.  Back then, LMU forced the Lady Saints into 29 turnovers; this time it was North Georgia's turn, forcing LMU to turn the ball over 24 times.

The teams traded the lead five times in the first half and went into the locker room tied 28-28 at the half.

The second half saw North Georgia put together a 7-0 run midway through the half to take a lead the Lady Saints would never relinquish.

Andi Winney led LMU in scoring with 16 points.  Other scorers in double figures were Kara Harris with 14 and Stephanie Wagner with 12.  Heather Benton led all players with her career-high 18 rebounds.

North Georgia's Megan Huffman led all scorers with 21 points, including 13-13 from the free throw line.

LMU falls to 0-2 on the season and will host King College in the home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
