Two Pike Central Players Sign With LMU

HARROGATE, TN – When college coaches begin searching for the missing pieces to next season’s puzzle, it’s extremely rare to find two of those pieces in the same graduating class from the same place.  Nonetheless, that was the case when Lincoln Memorial University decided to sign Brittany Craney and Megan Davis of Petersburg, Indiana.

When LMU ended its search for a new women’s basketball head coach, Larry Just was named man for the job.  While the search was going on however, Lady Railsplitter assistant coach Dawn Skelcher had her nose to the recruiting trail and received a tip about two players in Indiana that might help the Lady Railsplitter cause next season.  After talking with Just and looking at film on the two prospects, it was agreed upon that Craney and Davis would be a good fit for the Lady Railsplitter program.

Craney was the point guard for the Lady Chargers and was among the scoring leaders averaging 15 points a game.  In the latter part of the year, Craney put up even more impressive numbers from the offensive end of the floor and led the team in assists and steals.  Her offensive production allowed her to cross the 1,000-point plateau before the end of her senior year.

Davis also reached the 1,000-point mark this season and averaged 15 point per game; around eight rebounds per game, which was first on the Lady Charger squad, and was among the top three in assists and steals.  She will most likely play at the big guard or small forward position for the Lady Railsplitters.

Craney and Davis will join a Lady Railsplitter basketball team that lost five seniors to graduation after finishing the 2006-07 season with a record of 14-15.  The Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball team will be entering its second year of competition in the South Atlantic Conference, the first of which is under the direction of newly hired Head Coach Larry Just.
