LMU’s Williams Selected to Take Part in Nike Program

HARROGATE, TN – Former Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball player and current graduate assistant coach Chasity Williams (Evansville, IN) has been selected to take part in Nike’s “So You Want To Be A Coach” program.

A four-year letter winner for the Lady Railsplitters, Williams completed her senior season a year ago and was asked to return to the Lady Railsplitter program as a graduate assistant coach this year.  “I knew it would be a good opportunity for me,” said Williams.  “I wanted to further my career in coaching and to meet some of the legends of the game that women’s basketball has today.  The opportunity should also open doors for many of the participants and hopefully that will happen for me.”

The “So You Want To Be A Coach” program is a collaborative effort between the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and the National Collegiate Athletic Association to provide female minority student-athletes with an experience that becomes the foundation of a successful coaching career.  The WBCA has assembled a group of experienced coaches and administrators who will serve as resources to share with the participants their knowledge, as well as to provide networking opportunities which will help those involved secure coaching positions.

The program will be held Friday, March 30 – Sunday, April 1, 2007, during the WBCA National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.  Williams received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in December and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in education at Lincoln Memorial University.
