KNOXVILLE, TN - From the opening tip of Monday night’s exhibition with the University of Tennessee, the Railsplitters were forced to fight an uphill battle.  The Volunteers scored the opening basket and never looked back, eventually coming away with a 124-61 win over Lincoln Memorial.

Although several Railsplitters managed to put together solid offensive performances, Tennessee’s defensive effort forced Lincoln Memorial into 31 turnovers by games end and limited the Railsplitters to 35.3% shooting from the floor.

Junior Terry Delany (Murfreesboro, TN) led the Railsplitters in scoring and rebounding.  Despite an ankle injury, Delany was 7-12 from the floor, 1-2 from three point range and 1-1 from the line for 16 points while pulling seven rebounds.

Also in double figures were LMU sophomore Beau Brown (Athens, TN) and newcomer Emmanuel Njomo (Fairfax, VA).  Brown was pressured defensively all evening and limited to 15 points, while Njomo had 10 points and six boards.

While the game was a novelty to Railsplitter fans, it really didn’t give the LMU coaching staff an opportunity to work on offensive and defensive sets they will use against the average regular season opponent.

This Thursday evening the Railsplitters will continue running the exhibition gauntlet when they travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to take on Middle Tennessee State University.  The game with the Blue Raiders is set to get underway at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  Lincoln Memorial will end their exhibition run on Sunday when they travel to Carbondale, Illinois to take on the Salukis of Southern Illinois University.
