LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release October 26, 2006 And So a New Era Begins
HICKORY, NC – On Wednesday morning a new era officially got underway for the Lincoln Memorial University basketball programs in Hickory, North Carolina. The hopes of LMU Head Basketball Coaches Roger Vannoy and Hugh Watson are that Hickory is where their seasons will both end up following the regular season schedule. Wednesday was the South Atlantic Conference’s basketball media day where all teams in the conference exchange season information and hear what their coaches have to say about the upcoming schedule. As has been the case since Lincoln Memorial officially became a member of the South Atlantic Conference on July 1, 2006, the LMU program was welcomed with open arms by all institutions in the SAC, as well as conference officials and interested media. Both LMU Women’s Basketball Coach Roger Vannoy and Men’s Basketball Head Coach Hugh Watson were excited about their possibilities for the season and their new endeavors in the South Atlantic Conference. The Railsplitters return four lettermen from a year ago led by senior point guard Kai Wells (Memphis, TN), while the LMU women will return several seasoned veterans including senior shooting guard Madeline Richards (Floyds Knobs, IN). Both Lincoln Memorial teams officially kick-off this year’s schedules November 15 in the Tex Turner Arena when they play host to Lees-McRae College. The women will take on the Lady Cats at 6:00 p.m., while the men’s game will get underway at eight o’clock. -LMU- For additional
