LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release February 16, 2008 Undefeated Lenoir-Rhyne Cruises Past Railsplitters
HARROGATE, TN – The Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne College who remain undefeated in South Atlantic Conference play, cruised past Lincoln Memorial on Saturday night to move to 19-3 overall and 10-0 in league play. (Box score)
The Bears pulled out to as much as a 20 point lead in the first half and never trailed as Lincoln Memorial was forced to battle from behind for forty minutes without its top scorer Terry Delaney (Murfreesboro, TN) who was under the weather and out of the lineup.
In the second half, Lenoir-Rhyne broke the back of the Railsplitters, opening the game up to a 35 points lead on three different occasions before eventually coming away with a 26 point 89-63 victory.
Despite the loss, LMU’s Emmanuel Njomo (Fairfax, VA) led all scorers with 20 points while Railsplitter freshman Ryan Whitaker (Pineville, KY) finished closely behind with 17 points. Lenoir-Rhyne was paced by guard Josh Rudder who contributed 15 points, while D.J. Blackmon and Elliott McDowell both came off the bench to knock down 13 points each.
The Railsplitters fall to 8-16 overall and 1-10 in South Atlantic Conference play as they prepare for their final South Atlantic Conference home game of the season this Wednesday night when LMU plays host to Catawba College at 8:00 p.m. The Railsplitters will close out the regular season schedule on the road when they travel to Carson-Newman College and Newberry College in the final week of the month. -LMU- For additional
