Lincoln Memorial Crushes King

HARROGATE, TN – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball team got back on the winning track Tuesday afternoon with an 18-1 domination of King College at home on the Lamar Hennon Field.

After suffering a conference loss to Mars Hill College in Sunday’s final game of a three-game series with the Lions, the Railsplitters unloaded a hitting barrage on the Tornado and pulled away in the early innings of the contest.

Senior pitcher Kyle Wakefield (Kalamazoo, MI) picked up his fifth win of the year, improving to 5-3 overall, as he went the distance to help the Railsplitters run-rule King College in seven innings of play.

This Friday and Saturday the Railsplitters play host to Newberry College in a three-game conference series that could dictate whether or not Lincoln Memorial qualifies for the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Tournament.  Friday’s game with the Indians gets underway at 7:00 p.m. while Saturday’s double-header is set for a 1:00 o’clock start on the LMU campus.
