Sports Release April 2, 2008 Railsplitters Bounce North Greenville in Two Games HARROGATE, TN – The Railsplitter baseball team improved to 24-17-1 on Wednesday evening with 14-4 and 14-8 victories over the Crusaders of North Greenville University. The victories set the stage for the Railsplitters' final home series of the season on Friday and Saturday against the Lions of Mars Hill College. Mars Hill currently occupies the No. 6 spot in the South Atlantic Conference race with next weekend marking the final weekend of regular season league play. The Railsplitters are currently in eighth place of the South Atlantic Conference standings and need a sweep of Mars Hill College at home this weekend and more then likely a sweep of Newberry College next weekend on the road if they are to earn a spot in the upcoming conference tournament to be held April 17-20 in Hickory, North Carolina. Friday action against Mars Hill College is set to get underway at 7:00 p.m. with a single nine inning game, while Saturday’s double header is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. Rainy conditions are forecast for the tri-state area on Friday which could push back the series depending on however much rain the Lamar Hennon Field receives. The conditions could create a problem for the Railsplitter’s final home series, as this weekend the team is scheduled to honor its three seniors for senior day festivities. LMU’s Derek Treece (Powell, TN), Storm Kaufman (Miramar, FL) and TeWayne Willis (Hazard, KY) will be honored. Information will be posted on the LMU athletics website and on the LMU Sportsline (423 869-6400) as it is made available. -LMU- For additional
