Railsplitters Score 20th Win Of The Season With 7-0 Shutout Of Eckerd College 

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The Lincoln Memorial University baseball team picked up its 20th win of the season Monday evening by shutting out host Eckerd College 7-0 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Playing in the second game of a four-game spring break tour through the state of Florida, the Railsplitters bounced back from Sunday’s 7-3 loss to Florida Southern by pounding out 10 hits and committing no errors to improve to 20-14-1 on they year.

LMU’s Ralph Rosas (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) was 2-for-3 on the evening while Bryon Izzo (Miramar, FL) was 3-for-5 on the game with an RBI.

On the mound, Lincoln Memorial used four pitchers to toss a nine hit shutout.  Junior Casey Sedley (Miami, FL) improved to 5-2 on the year with the win.  Sedley got the start and pitched five innings, allowing three hits and no runs while walking two batters and striking out three.

In the sixth inning, LMU’s Mitch Kramer (Amherstberg, Ontario, Canada) entered the game in the relief.  Kramer tallied two inning of shutout baseball despite giving up five hits and striking out three Eckerd batters.

In the eighth inning, junior Jason Davila (Plantation, FL) entered and allowed only one hit before freshman Ray Burchell (Corryton, TN) closed the door in the ninth with two strikeouts.

Now 20-14-1 overall, the Railsplitters travel to Melbourne, Florida on Tuesday to take on Florida Tech before closing out the trip on Wednesday in a nine inning game with Rollins College in Orlando.  LMU resumes the South Atlantic Conference schedule this weekend when the Railsplitters travel to Salisbury, North Carolina to take on Catawba College.
