Sports Release March 23, 2008 Railsplitters Move To 19-14-1 HARROGATE, TN – After defeating Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky on Friday 14-1 and 42-2, the Railsplitter baseball team traveled to Florida over the weekend and began their spring break tour of the Sunshine State with a 7-3 loss to Florida Southern College. Florida Southern’s Spencer Theisen drove in four runs with a homerun and an infield out to help power the Moccasins to the 7-3 win over the Railsplitters on Sunday afternoon. The Railsplitters, 19-14-1 grabbed a brief lead in the top of the second inning when Ralph Rosas (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) double and later scored on Shane Kaufman’s (Miramar, FL) sacrifice fly. LMU didn’t score again until the eighth, when Rosas singled home Storm Kaufman (Miramar, FL) and Casey Sedley (Miami, FL) scored on a fielder’s choice by Jason Pabon (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico). Brett Vaughn (Hayesville, NC) made the start for LMU and took the loss, dropping his record to 1-4 on the season. The Railsplitters are in action today Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida before traveling to Melbourne, Florida tomorrow to take on Florida Tech. LMU will end its spring break trip on Wednesday when the Railsplitters take on Rollins College. -LMU- For additional
