OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release March 18, 2007 Cougars Pounce on Railsplitters
HARROGATE, TN – Playing their first game with Lincoln Memorial during their spring break tour, the Cougars of Caldwell College put together a devastating second inning to overwhelm the Railsplitters and eventually come away with a 15-2 on win on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s loss snapped a five-game Lincoln Memorial win streak and drops the Railsplitters to 21-11 on the year. Scott Erland (2-2 Pegram, TN) suffered the loss. Erland pitched only 1.2 innings, giving up 11 hits, 11 runs and 11 earned runs while walking two batters and striking out one.
The Railsplitter and the Cougars will square off in a double-header this Wednesday in their final meeting of the week. The outing will be LMU’s final non-conference action before resuming South Atlantic Conference play this weekend at home against Catawba College. -LMU- For additional
