LMU’s Workman Named SAC Pitcher Of The Week

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University senior pitcher Joe Workman (Dayton, KY) has been named South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week by the conference’s nine sports information directors.

A four-year letter winner with the Railsplitter baseball program, Workman was named All-Gulf South Conference First Team last season in the University’s final year with the league and becomes one of the first two Lincoln Memorial baseball players to receive Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference honors this year along with teammate Dustin Rowland (Eagle River, AK).

In last week’s season opener against the University of South Carolina-Aiken, Workman scattered six hits over nine innings, as he pitched the complete game to help the Railsplitters capture a 10-0 shutout over the #22 nationally ranked Pacers while recording 5 strikeouts and no walks.

After falling to USCA 3-10 and 7-10 in the final two games of the series, the Railsplitters are 1-2 on the year and are preparing for their first home series this Saturday when LMU hosts Ohio Valley University.  Both Saturday and Sunday’s double-headers are set to get underway at 1:00 p.m. on the Lamar Hennon Field.
