OFFICE OF SPORTS INFORMATION Sports Release January 4, 2007 LMU Baseball Announces 2007 Spring Schedule HARROGATE, TN - Entering his fourth season at the helm of the Railsplitter baseball program, Head Coach Jeff Sziksai announced the 2007 baseball schedule today, as the Railsplitters enter their first year of competition in the South Atlantic Conference. The 2007 schedule pairs LMU with three nationally ranked teams for a total of 12 games against ranked opponents. Non-conference play is highlighted by weekend series with #22 USC-Aiken, Ohio Valley University (received votes), Bloomsburg University and Caldwell College. Things get even tougher when the Railsplitters enter conference play, competing against two teams that appear in the pre-season polls and several others that are knocking on the door. LMU hosts #25 Tusculum, #28 Catawba, Presbyterian and Newberry, while traveling to Lenoir-Rhyne, Mars Hill, Wingate, and rival Carson Newman to finish the 2007 schedule. When asked about the 2007 schedule Sziksai commented, “As a group, we feel that we can beat anyone on our schedule. However, in order for us to win, we will have to out-work, out-hustle, and out-execute our opponents in every aspect of the game. We will rely on leadership from our seniors and the depth of our pitching staff to give us a chance at a SAC championship.” The Splitters open up February 2nd at USC-Aiken at 4:00 p.m. and play their first home game on Lamar Hennon Field February 10th at 1:00 p.m. against Ohio Valley University. -LMU- For additional
