LMU’s Rowland & Workman Earn Pre-Season All-South Atlantic Conference Baseball Honors

HARROGATE, TN – Lincoln Memorial University catcher Dustin Rowland (Eagle River, Alaska) and starting pitcher Joe Workman (Dayton, Kentucky) have been named to the Pre-Season All-South Atlantic Conference First and Second Teams by the sports information directors throughout the conference.

Rowland a 6’2” senior received First Team All-Gulf South Conference honors last season in Lincoln Memorial’s final year of membership with the league.  The second year player for the Railsplitters hit .410 last spring to lead LMU at the plate and was the Splitters only player named to the Pre-Season All-SAC First Team.

Workman, a 5’10” four-year letter winner LMU was also named First Team All-Gulf South Conference following the 2006 spring season and received Pre-Season Second Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors in this week’s voting.  Workman posted a 3.28 ERA last season for the Railsplitters, while accumulating a 9-5 record which included 98.2 innings pitched and a team best 71 strikeouts.

The Railsplitters are set to open the 2007 schedule on February 2-4 when they travel to Aiken, South Carolina to play the University of South Carolina-Aiken in a three-game series.  This will be LMU’s first season of membership in the South Atlantic Conference.
