L.M.U. Is Tied By Teachers In Grid Battle
-------------------------------

(Knoxville Journal Special)

JOHNSON CITY, Oct. 24 -- East Tennessee Teachers' College and L.M.U. battled to a 6 to 6 tie here this afternoon.
It was one of the hardest fought games ever played in upper East Tennessee. The play was unnecessarily rough, with both teams fighting their hardest to win. The L.M.U. eleven presented a baffling passing attack which was never stopped. The Rail Splitters' passes made the tilt look like a basketball game.
L.M.U. scored first after Captain Liebrock went off tackle and raced to the Teachers' 20 yard line for 50 yards. After three plays gained five yards, Liebrock passed to Johnson for the score.
The Teachers scored at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Haskins passed to Sams, who was run out of bounds on L.M.U.'s six-inch line. Haskins carried the ball over on the second down. The Teachers again carried the ball to the shadows of L.M.U.'s goal, but were repulsed in their march.
Captain Liebrock was the outstanding star for L.M.U., with Bailey, Leonard, Haskins and Brown starring in the Teachers' line-up.
