Text from article in Tex Turner's scrapbook, a clipping from the Bluefield (WV) newspaper. (Presumably the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Nov. 26, 1925)

CLOSE SEASON IN A BLAZE OF GLORY

Closing their season in a blaze of glory and playing the last half of the game in a quadmire [sic] of mud, the plucky Bluefield College grid outfit yesterday afternoon fell before the powerful aerial attack of the Lincoln Memorial University team, who trounced the local warriors by a 13-0 count. The visiting aggregation, led by Captain Tex Turner, unleashed an overhead attack which excelled anything ever witnessed in this city. The forward pass plays displayed by the Tennessee outfit completely bewildered the Bluefield team, and time after time Captain Turner hurled long and short passes with unerring aim for substantial gains. The inability of the locals to solve the overhead play of Captain Turner and his buddies was the direct cause of the downfall of the locals, who put up one of the games fights in their history.
