Wasps Keep Home Slate Clean For 1924 Season By Clean-Cut Victory -- McCready and Owen Chief Ground Gainers -- Lawrence Runs 80 Yards

Emory, Va., Nov. 22. -- The Wasps kept their home slate clean for '24 by winning over Lincoln Memorial here today by the score of 18 to 0. Two touchdowns, one in the second and the other in the fourth period with a pair of beautiful placements by Weaver from the 35 yard line in the third period gave the Wasps their total. Fullerton's team showed clear superiority in the field of straight football making seventeen first downs on line bucks and end runs, to 4 for Lincoln.
Dan McCready and Owen carried the ball chiefly for the Wasps, continuing their great offensive work for the past three games. Lincoln made three first downs on passes, completing a numberof nice ones for good gains. The Tennessee team threatened to score in the first and fourth periods and their touchdown, made only on fake plays was called illegal by referee Adams. Their aerial game was insufficient to make them score when deep in scoring territory.
The first touchdown for the Wasps came in the second period after a steady march from mid-field. The second followed in the fourth period after Dick Lawrence, a Bristol lad, had scooped up a line fumble and carried it 80 yards, only to be downed on his opponents' 5 yard line. McCready carried the ball over. The longest runs of the day were Lawrence's 80 yard one in final play, and McCready's 35 yard break through Lincoln's line in the third period.
McCready, Owen, Tom Cole and Lawrence were stars for the Wasps, while Turner, captain and quarterback was the outstanding man for Lincoln.
