L.M.U. RAIL SPLITTERS SMOTHER UNION 46-0
--------------------------------------
HARROGATE, Nov. 3. -- In a slow and
ragged game the L.M.U. Railsplitters won from the Union College eleven Saturday,
46-0. The game was played on the Middlesboro, Ky., gridiron.
From the kickoff to the final whistle, the
Railsplitters were on the offensive and at no time was their goal in danger. The
first touchdown, made in the early part in the first quarter, was the result of
a series of line plunges and end runs and was but the forerunner of of six other
touchdowns, two in the second quarter, one in the third and three in the fourth.
L.M.U. failed to kick goal twice. Most of the large gains were through line
tackles and completed passes. "Tex" Turner was the bright light for
L.M.U. with his broken field running for 25 and 35 yard gains. Manley, Pettigrew,
Squires and Holsberry also starred.
